Partner With Us

A vessel can carry a clinic to a community that is hard to reach from inland. Filling that clinic — with medicines, equipment, clinicians and funding — is work OHP does with institutional partners.

Who we partner with

  • Hospitals and health systems — clinician participation, supplies and equipment, clinical governance support.
  • Pharmaceutical and medical-device companies — medicines, consumables, dental and diagnostic equipment.
  • Foundations and grantmakers, particularly those aligned with global health access — funding for missions and for the vessel readiness that makes missions possible.
  • Universities and academic health centers — clinical staffing, faculty involvement, and structured educational participation.
  • Humanitarian, NGO, community and faith-based organizations — in-country relationships, community coordination, and continuity of care after a mission leaves.
  • Maritime and logistics companies — port services, transport, fuel, cold chain and shipping.
  • Corporate sponsors, especially in healthcare and logistics — funding, goods, services, and employee participation.

Individual clinicians and dentists who want to serve should start at Join a Mission; individual donors at Support the Mission. This page is for organizations.

Partnership types

In-kind supply

Medicines, clinical consumables, dental and diagnostic equipment. Useful in-kind support is specific: it matches what a mission is authorized to carry and administer, arrives with usable remaining shelf life, and comes with the documentation the receiving country requires.

Clinical staffing

An institution that can send a credentialed team, or commit to sending clinicians across several missions, solves the hardest recurring problem in this model. Individual clinicians should start at Join a Mission.

Funding and grants

Mission sponsorship, program funding, or support for vessel readiness and capability. Please read the note for grantmakers below before beginning a grant process.

Academic collaboration

Structured participation for clinicians in training, faculty involvement, and collaboration on how care is delivered and outcomes recorded — within the limits of host-country authorization and patient consent.

Logistics, port and vessel services

Transport to the port of embarkation, port services, fuel, maintenance, and cold chain for temperature-sensitive medicines.

In-country partnership and continuity of care

The most valuable partnerships OHP can form may be with organizations already working in the communities served. A mission that arrives, treats, and leaves without a referral path has done less good than one that connects patients to care that remains after the vessel has gone.

What OHP offers a partner

  • A mobile clinical platform. Coastal communities can be geographically close yet difficult to reach with personnel and supplies overland. A vessel-borne clinic reaches them by sea. Mercy, the vessel this mission is built around, is not yet owned by OHP; her purchase is under way, and OHP has access to the vessel while it completes.
  • A delivery model with an operating history, not a concept. The maritime medical model OHP uses was carried out over more than a decade under GPA Globalization Ministries — that experience, and the results it produced, belong to that organization. OHP was formed to carry the mission forward. A partner is backing a way of working that has already been done, rather than funding a build-out from scratch: the organization is new, the method is not.
  • Formal governance and procedures. OHP operates under governance, maritime-safety, clinical and financial procedures. Governance documents are available to prospective partners on request.
  • Reporting on what your contribution did. Partners are told how their funds, goods or people were used.
  • Named recognition, where a partner wants it and it is appropriate to the work.
  • Employee and faculty engagement — a concrete, physical way for clinical staff to serve.

What OHP is seeking now

Five areas of support come up on every mission of this kind. If your organization can supply any of them, that is the most direct place to begin:

  • Medical supplies and pharmacy inventory
  • Fuel and maintenance
  • Children's needs
  • Outreach funding
  • Nutrition support

Beyond those, in rough order of how much difference it would make to the first missions:

  • Medicines and clinical consumables, and a reliable channel for resupplying them
  • Dental equipment and supplies
  • Portable diagnostic equipment
  • Funding for vessel readiness, fuel and mission operations
  • Institutional partners who can commit clinicians across more than one mission
  • In-country partners who can coordinate with communities and receive referrals
  • Assistance with credentialing and host-country authorization to practice
  • Cold chain and transport capability

A note for grantmakers and due diligence teams

You will do this check anyway, so here it is up front. 501(c)(3) status pending. Federal tax-exempt recognition under Section 501(c)(3) is pending and has not been granted. Many grantmakers cannot release funds to an organization without a determination letter, and donor-advised fund sponsors generally cannot. If that describes your institution, tell us — an expression of intent now is still valuable, and we will come back to you when the position changes.

What is available to a partner conducting diligence: OHP's governing documents, board composition, conflict-of-interest policy, and the description of the maritime medical work carried out under GPA Globalization Ministries. What is not published: the operational SOP volumes covering maritime safety, clinical practice and financial controls. Those exist and are the substance of how OHP operates; publishing the detail serves no one and creates real risk. We will discuss them with a serious institutional partner.

Awaiting content

Needed: a due-diligence packet for grantmakers (governing documents, board roster, policies, budget, and OHP's determination status as of a stated date); whether OHP is currently working with a fiscal sponsor and, if so, which organization; and any grant-application requirements or deadlines OHP wishes to publish.

Further detail on governance, safeguards and planned financial reporting is on Learn About OHP.

Tell us who you are, what you are able to offer or want to explore, and any constraints your institution works under — including whether a determination letter is a precondition for you.

It is genuinely useful if your first message says what you would need from OHP in order to proceed. That is usually a faster route to a real partnership than a general expression of interest.
